Currently, there is a great demand for classical TCM knowledge, which can be applied to a modern clinical environment. However, detailed information was only available in the Chinese language. This is about to change. This diploma course uses the original Chinese texts as a stable and extensive foundation and translates them into English in order to facilitate the closest link with the source.

This unique course, given by top experts in the field, is offered to you by the TCM Classics Research Institute in collaboration with the Shandong University of TCM and Qing-Bai University.

Duration
The total duration of this diploma course is 50 days of which 30 days will be given in the Netherlands and 20 days in China at the Shandong University of TCM in Jinan.
This diploma course consists of four modules, which are described below.

Time Frame
This course starts in April 2009 and will be concluded with an exam in October 2010. The 20 days in China are divided into two blocks: one block of 10 days in October 2009 and one block of 10 days in October 2010.

Requirements for attendance
Practitioner of Chinese herbal medicine.
The motivation to study the real roots of TCM, to start at the source.
Knowledge of acupuncture meridianology.
Acupuncturist with strong interest in Chinese Herbal Medicine.

Course Content

Module 1: Shāng Hán Lùn topics - total of 17 days starting in April 2009.

Module 2: Study at the Shandong University of TCM - 10 days from October 9 till 26, 2009

October 9: Arrival at Beijing Airport.
Weekend (October 10, 11): Free time in Beijing. By high-speed train to Jinan on October 11th.
Week 1 (October 12 - 16): Jīn Guì Yào Lüè text study at the Shandong University of TCM by prof. dr. Wang Xinlu, prof. dr. Jiang Jianguo, prof. dr. Tao Hanhua.
Weekend (October 17, 18): Free for sight-seeing, etc.
Week 2 (October 19 - 23): Clinical practice in the Jinan TCM hospital with prof. dr. Wang Zhonglin. On the Friday you will receive a certificate.
October 24: From Jinan to Beijing by high-speed train. Free time in Beijing.
October 26: Flight back home.

Module 4: Study at the Shandong University of TCM - 10 days from October 8 till 25, 2010

October 8: Arrival at Beijing Airport.
Weekend (October 9, 10): Free time in Beijing. By high-speed train to Jinan on October 11th.
Week 1 (October 11 - 15): Shāng Hán Lùn and Jīn Guì Yào Lüè text study at the Shandong University of TCM by prof. dr. Wang Xinlu, prof. dr. Jiang Jianguo, prof. dr. Tao Hanhua.
Weekend (October 16, 17): Free for sight-seeing, etc.
Week 2 (October 18 - 22): Clinical practice in the Jinan TCM hospital with prof. dr. Wang Zhonglin. Friday October 22: examination and certification.
October 23: From Jinan to Beijing by high-speed train. Free time in Beijing.
October 25: Flight back home.

Exam and Exam Preparation
Upon completing all the modules and passing the Shāng Hán Lùn and the Jīn Guì Yào Lüè theoretical examination and the final examination at the Shandong University of TCM, a diploma will be issued by the Shandong University of TCM.
A separate one day exam preparation will be organized in order to prepare for the final exam at the Shandong University of TCM in October 2010.
(People that only want to follow the Shāng Hán Lùn module and/or the Jīn Guì Yào Lüè module and do not want to study in China, do not receive the diploma from the Shandong University of TCM. Instead they will receive a certificate of participation.)

Quality Control
This diploma course is under the supervision of the Shandong University of TCM in Jinan.

Can I follow modules?
Yes, you can. For example, modules are Shāng Hán Lùn, Jīn Guì Yào Lüè, TCM master study in China in October 2009 and TCM master study in China October 2010.

FAQ
Q: If I'm not sure yet if I want to do the whole diploma course, what should I do?
A: Register per module. In 2010 you call still decide if you want to do the exam or not.

Fees and details of payment
Shāng Hán Lùn module starting in April 2009: total course fees € 1995.00.
Jīn Guì Yào Lüè module starting in March 2010: total course fees € 1525.00.
TCM Master study trip to China in October 2009: we are currently negotiating the best price for our students. The fee for the study, hotel, travel from airport to/from hotel and train to/from Jinan and exclusive flight ticket is about € 1800.00 (estimation on current rates).
A non refundable deposit of € 250.00 for each course module will need to be paid to reserve a place if applicants are accepted on the course.
The balance will need to be paid in full before the start date of the course module.

Venue
In the Netherlands this course will be facilitated by Qing-Bai University of TCM and held at Berghotel in Amersfoort in The Netherlands.
In China the course will be held at Shandong University of TCM in Jinan in China.
