Course Description
Nan Jing is one of the most significant classical TCM texts. The goal of this course is to deeply study and understand this classical work to become a proficient TCM practitioner and/or qualified TCM teacher.
The Nan Jing consists of six parts:
- Pulse-ology,
- Meridian-ology,
- Zang-fu theory,
- Pathological mechanisms of diseases,
- Nature of acupuncture points,
- Needling techniques.
What you will learn during this course
During this course the following will be discussed in detail:
I. Pulse-ology
Issues 1 until 21: The theory of the pulse, pulse images, pulse techniques, the nature of yin yang and zang-fu related to the pulse, the pathological mechanisms of the pulse and the relation with the later developed 28 pulses will be discussed and trained in practice.
II. Meridian-ology
Issues 22 until 29: This will be combined with chapters 10, 11 and 13 of the Ling Shu and Qi Jing Ba Mai Kao (Li Shi Zhen) in order to deeply study classical meridian-ology and its related pathological mechanisms, and to understand the basic theory of defining acupuncture formulas. Many unclear concepts, such as Qi Jing Ba Mai will be clarified in theory and clinical application.
III. Issues 30 until 47
The focus will be on Ming Men, Yuan-Qi and San-Jiao theory in order to clarify misunderstood concepts in today’s TCM education and clinical application.
IV. Issues 48 until 68
These issues will guide us to deeply understand the original description of the nature of the five shu, yuan-source, front-mu, back-shu, 15 luo, and ba hui points. Combinations with the theories of the four streets, root-knot and four sea of meridian-ology will be explained; including the use of these points in acupuncture formulas and in clinical application.
